I want to gain a deeper understanding of film as well as the art of filmmaking, and I want to experience movies in a way that respects the directors intention. I understand that motion smoothness is added frames into a film that makes a film look “sharper” (is that talking about the image quality? or how one frame leads to another?). Another way I can describe it is that the frames of a film are added between two existing frames.

Am I correct on this? But me getting the definition correct is not the biggest issue. I’m having trouble picking up on the visual difference between a film using motion smoothing and a film not using it. Take this video link which compares the same scene of the driver, but one is standard and one is motion smoothing. I can’t tell the difference in the video other than the one on the right is playing slower given the added frame rate. Am I correct on this? If not, could you help me understand what I am misunderstanding?
